Spotlight on Service

Where did you come from originally?
I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, and came to California to go to Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley and to play basketball and football.

I hear you are a Hall of Famer! What's that about?
I’m actually in the NY State High School Basketball Hall of Fame!

That's pretty incredible! How did you end up in construction?
I worked with my father part-time and eventually became a contractor myself. He was a builder in New York but eventually moved out here chasing work.
How did you meet your wife?

On a blind date at an Argentinian deli. She’s from Argentina and her name is Graciela.
How long have you guys been married and how much family have you two acquired?
18 years old, and I’m a step-granddad to six amazing grandkids. They call me “No-No!" I came from a big family of six brothers and sisters so I have a lot of nieces and nephews as well, who all keep me very busy.
How did you guys find PMC?
We were members of Tejon Ranch. We decided to take a drive on a hot summer day, ended up in PMC totally by chance, fell in love with the place, and bought a house. That was 14 years ago.
So what have you been up to since you came to the West Coast?
I was an actor for several years, and I'm also a singer. I've sung at weddings, but I’ve always been in construction. I’ve worked for a lot of famous people in construction like Dean Martin, Rob Reiner, Alan Thicke, and a few others. From 1986 to 1996 I was chasing acting while doing construction and playing ball at UCLA, but construction turned out to be my real passion.
When did you start doing general contracting full time and what were you mainly doing?

In the early 2000s, I was doing mainly residential construction of custom homes on the west side of Santa Monica with a larger company. Before that I was mostly working on my own as a contractor but doing most of the contractor work myself, focusing a lot on custom carpentry. Most of the work I do is in-house.
When did you decide to bring your operation solely to PMC?
In the Fall of 2022, I decided to focus my efforts on the local community. I just really love PMC and I was able to establish a stable, talented local crew that includes Mark Barnes, Dave Gardener, and Dave Lewis, all of whom are cornerstones of the company.

Besides an outstanding crew, what else sets you apart?

The reliability, cost-effectiveness, and the ability to do the work in-house, mean the project scope can be handled by myself and my crew. We don’t have to bring in outside sources because we have the skill set to handle virtually any construction from the smallest deck build-up to a full, ground-up custom build.
What are all of the services you provide to PMC?

-
Excavation and concrete
-
Rough Carpentry
-
Repaint and refinish decks
-
Structurally re-support and re-attach decks
-
Foundations and slabs
-
Drainage: French drains and gutters
-

In the Know
Did you know that if you or someone in your household uses a CPAP machine or requires the regular use of other qualifying medical devices, you may be eligible for SCE's Medical Baseline Allowance program?

This program provides an additional 16.5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day at the lowest baseline rate, which helps offset the cost of operating the medical equipment. Not only that, SCE offers a battery back-up system to qualified customers that will provide continuous power in the case of an outage.
