Debra Fisher, Owner
Fisher Electric
Ca. C-10 Lic. # 915989
Licensed, Bonded, & Insured
Where did you grow up?
InVelvidere, Ill.
When did you move to CA?
I moved in 2000. My sister lived here and I had some family changes, so I decided to start fresh in Cali.
How did you find PMC?
A friend of mine lived in Frazier and told me about a house that was right next to his. I was living in Sherman Oaks at the time. A realtor took me up to PMC, and I bought my house. This was in 2004.

Tell us about your family and your pets.
I have three children, They all live in Wisconsin and Illinois. I have two girls and a boy. My son has a fence and deck company. My daughter runs an organic farm and my other daughter is a personal assistant. My dog passed away so I have no pets right now, but when I retire I will definitely get another dog .I love dogs and cats.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve experienced since you moved to PMC?
The craziest thing is my driveway and trying to get in and out of it in the winter. It’s a 1/4 of a mile long. The other crazy thing was when I could jump off my balcony into the snow because it was so deep! It was the biggest snowstorm ever, even worse than this last one.

How did you become an electrician and how long have you been doing it?
I have been in the business of wiring and manufacturing for over 30 years. I began my career in Chicago, Illinois, and eventually started my own company known as Hooker Electronics, a manufacturer of control panels, wire harnesses, and cable assemblies. I had 30 employees under my wing, and held long-time contracts with clients such as Ingersoll, Barrett Nissan, Toyota, and Taylor Freezer Co.
Other than the obvious, being a woman in a typically man's industry, what sets you apart in your field?
After I established Fisher Electric in Southern California, I began specializing in troubleshooting difficult projects as well as lighting design with a focus on aesthetics and customization. I think developing those areas of expertise, plus really listening, helps me turn my clients' needs and visions into reality for them.

Do you focus on residential or commercial?
Over the years I've done a great deal of both.
What do you like most about your job?
I like helping people and making them safe. I love doing things right. I’ve been a workaholic my entire life. Troubleshooting is fun because it’s always a different challenge. Every job is different. I love the diversity of where I am and what I’m doing. I can troubleshoot or wire anything. Mostly, though, I've loved building this business on integrity and respect, always striving to exceed my clients expectations.

How would you describe your professional self in one sentence?
Maybe the best man for the job is a woman.

How did you and Scott first discover PMC, where did you move here from and
how long have you been here?
Scott discovered PMC when he used to go up to Mt. Pinos to do
astrophotography. We moved to PMC in April 1989 from Canyon Country.
How did you get into the Internet provider industry and how long have you
been doing this?
We had been having to dial into Bakersfield or the Bay Area to get internet
service. We decided to see what it would take to provide service in PMC
and the surrounding Hill Areas, and that was the start of Frazier Mountain
Internet Service. We started our business December 30, 1995.
Frazier Mountain Internet

Tell us a little about your family. How many kids do you have? Do any of them still live up here? Do you have grandkids?
We have one daughter, Valerie. She was born and raised in PMC and attended all the local schools - Lion's Preschool, Frazier Park Elementary, El Tejon Middle School and Frazier Mountain High School. After high school, she received her BS in Geological and Environmental Sciences at Stanford University, where she met her husband, Andrew. She is currently a PhD candidate in Geology at Stanford. She and Andrew live in Palo Alto.

Do you have any pets?
Not at the moment.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Scott likes to play his guitar and go camping. I enjoy playing my ukulele, pickleball, reading and counted cross stitch.

I hear you both are pretty talented musicians and are in a band together. Tell us a little about that.
Scott has been playing the guitar off and on for about 50 years. Once we got a 5th wheel and started camping (just months before COVID), pulling out the guitar and playing around the campfire seemed like the logical thing to do. One thing lead to another and the Foxtail Rangers were born. Scott started teaching me to play the baritone ukulele December 2021 and we did our first Open Mic together in April 2022. After that, I started joining the Foxtail Rangers for a few numbers when they perform. It's been a whole lot of fun for us.

The question of which Internet provider to select when folks first move to PMC always comes up. I see it posted over and over on Facebook and always see a variety of answers, with many recommending Frazier Mountain Internet for two things in particular: your reliability and your excellent customer service. Beyond that, I don't know a whole lot about the differences between the different services, other than that the satellite providers seem to go down a lot when it snows because of the dishes filling up with snow. Can you explain to us exactly what Frazier Mountain offers and how that differs from the other providers like Zito, Starlink or Hughes?
The main difference is that we have consistently offer a very high reliability of service (downtime is virtually non-existent), we are very well connected (performance is optimal), and we provide a high quality of technical support services.
What criteria should a new resident consider when selecting a provider?
Determine what your needs are - is the internet for work or personal purposes, how much data do you use, etc.
What is important to know about Internet service on a mountain as opposed to down in the city?
Many of the considerations would be the same whether you're in the city or on the hill. Probably one of the bigger differences is that our more severe weather can create electricity outages and infrastructure damage. So, to that extent, it becomes more important for the provider to have good redundancy (battery backups, generators, backup infrastructure) and the ability to effect repairs rapidly when damage does occur. That helps to ensure that any customer downtime is avoided and/or kept to a minimum.
You've got to be one of PMC's longest standing and most successful companies. What do you attribute your success to?
The key is good customer service.

How do you and Scott balance work and family life?
We try our best to set aside work, while still being available to our customers. I guess being in business as long as we have has given us time to get good at that balance. Camping and playing music, along with socializing with our wonderful Mountain Community friends helps give us that balance.

i've done a little snooping around your website and it looks like you've pretty consistently given back to the community over the decades you've been in business here. That's pretty cool. How did you guys get nterested in that sort of thing?
This is a community that we love and we've always wanted to give back to it. From 1992-1996, the Pine Mountain Lions Club gave us the opportunity to be involved in several campaigns - Jaws of Life, Mil Potrero Highway Guardrail, and Computers for Frazier Park School. From there, we have been very fortunate to be able to volunteer time and donate funds to worthy causes throughout the Mountain Communities.

Patience Pritchard
Realtor, Property Manager
Twin Oaks Property Management
(661) 330-1750
Tell me about how long you’ve been on the mountain.
I was born to parents who lived up here. My parents moved up here over 35 years ago. My dad just stumbled upon the place and wanted to bring his family to the mountains. My mom and my stepdad, Jeff and Andrea Mallory, who own Jennings Realty, still live here. I kind of just fell into the real estate business because of them.

Where were you born? I hope it wasn't actually on this mountain!
No, thank goodness. I was born at a hospital in Mission Hills.
How many siblings do you have?
Three brothers and one sister.
Do they still live up here?
Just my little brother. He still lives up here. His name is Jacob Mawry. He’s a photographer and candy maker. He and my dad, Jeffrey, own Jeffrey’s Candy Company. Jacob has Aerial Falls Photography as well..
What about your family? Tell me about your husband and your kids.
I’m married to Aaron, he’s a McGyver of sorts. He works in aerospace and we have three kids: Elan, who’s almost 17, Frances, who’s 10 and Sabine, who’s 2.
Any pets?
We have two dogs, Murphy, a golden doodle, and Henry, a Boston terrior. We also have a cat named Henry.
What do you like most about living up here?
I’ve been all over, I’ve traveled, but I can’t live anywhere else. It’s the slowpace environment. It’s the community. It’s the close knit vibe. It’s beautiful. I can breathe. I get to Lebec, I get off the freeway, and I’m so thankful, so relieved. It’s smooth sailing from there. We have no crime! Our biggest problem is bears. I’d much rather live with bears than crime. I think it’s a great place to raise a family.

So how did you get into this business?
I started managing the resort rentals, but then my mom got sick with MS. That's when I stepped in and started helping. They had a property management side to the business but it was a sinking ship. So I stepped in and took it on. That was in 2017. I officially took it over in 2018 and rebranded it into Twin Oaks Property Management.

What all does Twin Oaks Do?
We do long-term rental property management in Kern, LA and Ventura Counties.
Tell us something about the long-term rental industry on this mountain that we wouldn’t typically know.
I don’t think people always realize how important it is to rent your property through a management company that is licensed and experienced. It really saves them a lot of hassle and money. We do everything for our clients: the paperwork, the preservation and maintenance of the properties, the screenings of renters, etc. and then once rented, the management of the renter and the maintenance of the property simultaneously.
I looked into becoming a property manager at one point in my life and it seemed incredibly complex and involved. What does it take to offer this service?
You have to be licensed with the department of real estate. We are licensed and insured. Also, when you are licensed you have to be a realtor too so you have to be up on all of the legal forms and information and you have to stay up on it. We use documents that are written by real estate attorneys and are overseen by the California Association of Realtors.
What do you enjoy most about this career?
The best part is when we get to see new faces and bring people to new areas, especially to PMC. We just moved a new family up here, and it’s so much fun to see their enthusiasm to embark on mountain life. It’s even more fun when these tenants turn into homeowners and I get to sell them their first mountian home.
Tell me more about your clients.
We have quite a few “accidental landlords.” Usually they are people who buy a second home up here and don’t end up utilizing it as much as they planned. Renting it out is a great way to recoup the cost until they determine if they want to move up here or start using them more again or sell them. Or sometimes our homeowners will get job offers somewhere else after purchasing a home. I also have a lot of Airbnb owners reaching out to me right now that want to turn them into long-term rentals, because the Airbnb market is down so much right now.
Just curious. What are long-term rental rates going for in PMC at the moment on average?
A rough range would be a single-wide, one bedroom, one bath mobile home is going for about $800 and a four bedroom, two bath home with a one car garage and a workshop is going for about $2,500.
One last, very important question, Patience. Are you actually patient?
I think so. I try to be.
What about the husband? What would he say?
I think he would say yes.

Wonderful! What is the best number for people to reach you on if they'd like to talk more with you about all of this?
They can reach me at: (661) 330-1750

How long have you lived on the mountain?
I moved here in 2018 from Agoura Hills.
What brought you here?
I lived in Hollywood for many years, but I’ve always loved the outdoors and open space, I love dogs, so I went from Hollywood to Agoura and that was a huge shift. In 2017 we had the Woosley Fire and my entire neighborhood burned. The house I was living in fortunately didn’t. It was built in the 1920s. The whole neighborhood was devastated, plus the price of rent was going up like crazy. I looked for a new place and found PMC. I drove up here on my birthday in 2017 and it had just snowed. I hadn’t seen snow in years and I just immediately fell in love with it. It’s just so beautiful up here.
Tell us about your family.
My brother Ian is also part of Alpine Pickup. Ian is responsible for the day-to-day operations and I do everything else. He lives with us. He moved up here during Covid. He’s worked all around the mountain. He also works at the maintenance department and the transfer site. And then there’s my beautiful wife, Dayna. We’ve been married for one year, November 6th. I met her up here through Megan Monroe and Kingsley. Dana is Kingsley’s sister. Dana just brings me peace. She is such a great balancer in my life. She just makes me a better person, every day. We also have Kamaji. He is a seven-year-old mutt from Iran. He was brought over by the group, “Dogs Without Borders.” They go in and rescue at-risk dogs, send them to a vet, and then bring them here. His dad was an Iranian grey wolf. He’s a big boy who loves people. We also have a cat named Rigby.
When did you start Alpine Pickup and what gave you the idea?
When I first moved up here in 2018 and discovered that there was no trash service, I realized that it was really needed. I wanted to create a service that would really benefit the community.
What does Alpine Pickup offer?
If you are a resident of PMC, you can either subscribe to one of our plans: we have three tiers of service, or you can order an a la carte service as needed. You can schedule it through our website or call us. You give us your address and the time you want us to pickup. It is door-to-truck because we don’t want anyone leaving trash in their driveway that might interfere with our wildlife. We have a box truck that is completely enclosed so nothing can fly out.
We also do dump runs to Lebec. If it fits in a 17x8-foot box truck, we can haul it away.
Can we book and pay online?
Absolutely. You can pay us electronically through our website, or you can pay us with a check or cash when we arrive.
How far in advance do people need to book?
Technically there is no limit because we are monitoring the site constantly, but if you can give us 24 hours that would be great.
What’s the weirdest thing a customer has asked you to haul away?
Well, we hauled away a hot tub. Someone threw away a perfectly good saxophone as well. I held onto that.
Who would you recommend your services to?
First and foremost, anyone that struggles with heavy lifting, or anyone that doesn’t want to haul trash in their car. Or maybe you have family over and you end up with more trash than you can haul by yourself. We also service Airbnb’s who need to make sure that their guests’ trash makes it to the transfer site. We also do a lot of work with anyone who is buying or selling a home up here and needs remaining furnishings hauled away.
What do you love most about your job?
The fact that we are great for the environment because we can do multiple trash or dump runs for our customers and lower the number of individuals driving it in.
I also love getting to know our customers. We are in constant communication with them and we really love that.
How would you describe your professional self?
I honor my commitments. If you set something up with us, we will be there, on time, and get it done right for you.

Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Tehran/Iran, and I am of Armenian descent. I've lived in America the beautiful since I was 16 years old.
Tell us about your family.
I am fortunate to have two caring parents, who have always encouraged me to learn and to be respectful and kind to others. I also have two older brothers who are very loving and supportive. I am married to a lovely man who is my soulmate and best friend, and although we do not have children, we have six wonderful nieces and nephews, and one grand-nephew and grand-niece. I have three sisters-in-law, who are strong, kind, and awesome women in my family. I have also been blessed with fantastic in-laws, who have always been super kind and respectful toward me.

How long have you been practicing acupuncture?
I established my practice as a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the Toluca Lake/ Burbank area in 2006, and after moving to Pine Mountain Club in 2020, established my second very peaceful office in 2021.
What got you interested in Eastern Medicine?
I was introduced to acupuncture therapy in 2001 for a leg pain I could not get rid of. I was very skeptical at first, but after completing a few sessions, I noticed that my pain level was minimal. It was at this time that I became fascinated with this medicine and decided to pursue it in full force. And again, my husband and my parents were 100% supportive of my going back to school and changing my career.
Tell us about your education and training in this field.
In addition to four years of Asian Medicine to become an acupuncturist, I have further studied to earn certification in Functional Medicine, which allows me to be more of an integrative practitioner and utilize both Eastern and Western disciplines and modalities to help my patients.
What kind of results do your patients typically experience when working with you?
Most of my patients are surprised as to how my treatments are effective without being painful. With ongoing and regular treatments, people can expect less pain, better sleep, less drastic hormonal fluctuations, an easier time during pregnancies, reduced stress, reduced GI issues, emotional release, and therefore a more overall balanced state of mind and body. My treatments include acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, guasha, moxibustion, and manual release. I also offer high-quality herbal supplements and nutraceuticals. And if and when needed, I can order laboratory testing and offer interpretations, protocols, and clinical insights.
What do you like most about your job?
What I love most about my job is meeting fascinating people with different backgrounds and experiences and being able to make a positive impact in their lives. What I do is very rewarding, and so I thrive on that.

If you could describe your professional self in one sentence, what would it be?
I listen and I do my best to help.
My philosophy is to achieve a harmonious and holistic lifestyle to promote optimal vitality. In modern societies, we are conditioned to equate our bodies to machines. However, I prefer to compare the human body to a garden. And for a garden to flourish, we must take the time to nourish its roots and foundation in order to rejuvenate and sustain good essence.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Thousand Oaks, Ca.
My husband Les and I bought a house in PMC in 2016.
Tell us about your family.
I have two daughters and between them 11 grandchildren ranging in age from a year to 16 years old. I am also raising my teenage grandson.
Les and I have been married for eight years in June. I met Les by working for him. We have two dogs, Atticus Finch, who is a husky, and Gracie Blue, who is a miniature Staffordshire Terrier.
Why did you want to become a notary and how does one achieve that?
I worked from home during Covid for Ventura School District, but our hours were shortened, so I needed an extra income stream. First, I took an online class and then took the test down in Santa Clarita. The test was extremely difficult. It was a 75-question test and you had to pass with 75% or higher. Luckily, I passed the first time.
What do you like about your job?
I really enjoy meeting new people, getting to know the area better, providing a necessary service on the mountain by being a mobile notary and saving people from needing to drive off the mountain.
What do most people need a notary for?
Most of my customers are doing trusts, retirement forms, powers of attorney, advanced directives, applications for copies of birth certificates, fictitious business name statements, grant deeds, quit deeds and many other documents.
How would you describe your professional self?
I’m self-motivated, organized, calm, friendly, and good at getting the job done in a timely manner. I usually have a turnaround time the same day or the next day.
